Overcoming Fear

It was common knowledge that the main reason so many people canceled their flights after September 11th was due to fear.

Yet, "Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc." is challenging this theory for two main reasons:

1) Few days after September 11th - as soon as the airlines were allowed to fly again - flights were packed with passengers flying back home.

2) If visitors were indeed terrified to fly back home then we would have ended up with millions of stranded visitors who are just refusing to fly back home. We would expected to see "tent cities" all over the world of travelers just too frighten to fly back home.

We are obviously exaggerating with the example above. Yet, we want to make the point that flying after September 11th was not that scary. Whenever people really had to fly, they went and flew.

"Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc." conclusion is that the reason so many people canceled their flight was not because of fear itself but because expressing fear became "the in" thing.

After such crisis it is the duty of the leaders (and also the media) to promote, educate and encourage for courage and for attitude of getting back to normal as the natural choice. Instead by dramatizing the events - they concentrated and dwelt on fear to a point in which fear became the common and excepted atmosphere.

Our theory is that people (mostly talking) were not terrified of flying but rather embraced fear as away to become part of society! It became fashion! People became very comfortable announcing to their friends that they canceled their planed vacation because they were "worried". This was at a time in which they should have been embarrassed and even a shamed to do so.

"Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc." wants to bring solutions to the phenomena. Our staff and volunteers - with the directors taking active roll regarding this matter - will emphasize the needs to get back and travel.

The best way of overcoming this emotion of the public is by using group dynamic and developing an atmosphere in which people get back flying as soon as possible in mass numbers.

There is an interesting point our claims: On one hand we claim that fear was not the cause of the mass cancellation but rather the negative state of mind in which the public was in. However, on the other hand we promote our organization as an excellent system to overcome fears.

First, our program is indeed the best tool to over come negative state of mind. Secondly, even that we challenge how much fear really took part in the people' decision after September 11th, we have no doubt that in future crises, fear could become indeed a major fact. Unfortunately, the aftermath after September 11th will encourage the terrorists to plan terror attack in order to cause fear.

We are not aware that Ben Laden was even trying to hurt the travel industry. As much as we are concerned, the aftermath of that attack including the recession was just a huge bonus for him.

The terrorists are evil but unfortunately not stupid. We are sure that they realized what goldmine they strict after the attack of September 11th and will exploit it again and even in stronger magneto.

September 11th was obvious a one time attack that was coordinated to happen once within very short time window. They capitalized on the surprise advantage they had. However, two hours later they lost that advantage. Flying on that Tuesday afternoon was actually very safe.

Our concerns should be towards future attacks in which it is very likely that causing fear will be their MAIN goal. Therefore, overcoming fear is one of the main goals of "Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc."

"Emergency Travel Infusion, Inc." will take leadership with this issue and educate and inspire the public to be pro-active in regarding to overcome fears. In addition, we will use specific call of action and group dynamic in order to make sure that the public indeed is taking the necessarily actions.
